Meet Your Friendly Fire-Breathing Dragon |
Below is an excerpt from my book, INTENTivity, changed somewhat for the purposes of this blog post. It's an exercise that I hope will help you in creating the life of your dreams using creativity and intention. Any desire to copy and share this information is welcomed as long as you credit the source. Thank you.
Excerpt from INTENTivity
If you’re like most people, you think of creativity in terms of the arts such as painting, singing, dancing, or acting. It is not reserved for only the arts, you can call upon your creativity and imagination to help you build the life of your dreams. Creativity stems from a universal and personal source. It lives in an invisible realm where the wells never run dry. You don’t have to pick up a paintbrush to be creative.
Creativity is your precious friend, no matter what the outside appearance. It’s the catalyst to light the creative fire within. Your creativity, directed by intention, sets ablaze your path to what you want and who you really are.
The creative spirit inside you is wild, fiery, and original. I share a fun exercise below to meet your creativity as a friendly fire-breathing dragon.
By going through this exercise, you will meet your friendly ally and guide to help you create what you want. You'll set an intention statement to live your dream life (you may use something different). Your intention statement will direct the course of creating what you want in harmony with your seeds of greatness and who you really are. You now intend to have the life of your dreams (or whatever else you intended).

Exercise: Imagine Your Creativity as a Friendly Fire-Breathing Dragon
Take some deep cleansing breaths, read over the visualization exercise below, then close your eyes, and take yourself there in your imagination.
Imagine your creativity as your personal, friendly fire-breathing dragon hovering above your right shoulder. Standing with staff in hand, you see what you want (your dream life) way off in the distance. Ask your dragon to light the way by breathing its fiery, passionate breath toward the direction of your desire. You now notice a pathway toward your passion with the words of your intention illuminated - "I live the life of my dreams now." A map appears in your hand. Marked on the map is an arrow pointing to your location and the location of your desire. Begin walking toward your desire - living the life of your dreams. Keep your gaze focused upon that point. Let nothing distract you. Keep walking.
Do you have that scene written upon your mind? Please take a moment to jot it in your journal, capturing details as they come to you. Where are you located? What kind of environment did you find yourself? Was your pathway straight or curvy? Describe the details of your dragon: size, color, and fire. Take in everything you notice about your dragon. What other identifying elements are on the creature that is now your friend? What’s its name? You’re beginning a loving relationship with it. Write as many details as you can remember. Come back to it anytime you feel in doubt about creating the life of your dreams. This dragon is now your ally. It will help you reach your goal.
That scenario is a metaphorical snapshot of what you’ll be doing if you decide to purchase my book and go through the six-week Igniting Your Intentions process. You’ll use intention and creativity to light the creative fire within. The fire will blaze your path to who you really are, which is ultimately what you really want.
You don't need to buy my book to begin creating the life of your dreams. Start now, use your new friend as your ally. Begin an imaginary relationship with your dragon. Go through the fuller exercise below to get you started.
Optional Exercise: A Close Encounter with your Friendly Fire-Breathing Dragon
The following is meant to deepen your relationship with your friendly fire breathing dragon. Do this now or come back to it at another time.
Close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths allowing yourself to slip into a calm, centered state. Call your dragon to you. Address your dragon by name, then ask it for a message. What does it want you to know right now? Then, ask your dragon for a gift. What is it? Give thanks to your dragon for what it has given you. Take a few moments to enjoy this time with your dragon. Now ask your dragon what it needs from you. Ask clarifying questions if they arise. Can you do what your dragon asks of you? When you feel complete, say goodbye to your dragon. Then, open your eyes.
Capture this encounter in full detail in your journal.
Consider drawing your dragon to make a visual keepsake. You could also make a painting or sculpture of it.
How Did the Dragon Exercise Go for You?
